Filing Deadline 31st January for Personal Tax Returns

Don’t forget, the deadline for submitting your tax return online is 11.59pm on 31st January 2016. If you submitted a paper copy of your tax return, then this should have been done last year by October 31st. It’s really important that you don’t miss the tax deadline because if you do, you will be fined £100, even if you don’t actually owe any tax. Avoid this unnecessary expense by staying on top of your taxes. To file your tax return you need to login to the HMRC website. If you haven’t done this before, then you will need to register your account, which can take up to seven days to process, so don’t leave this until right before the tax deadline.
One of the problems with leaving your personal tax return until the last minute is that lots of other people do it too! So, when you finally get around to doing it at the end of January, everyone else is in the same mad panic as you, which means the HMRC website is going to be running slow, making the whole process more stressful for you. This could also be bad for you if you need to get in touch with HMRC with any questions or queries you have about your tax return or the submission process. The closer to the deadline you’re trying to contact them, the longer you’ll have to wait for a response, as they’ll be so busy dealing with submissions and other people’s enquiries. Plus, if your accountant is handling filing your tax return, they’ll be inundated with tax deadlines for all their other clients that have left it late, so get your accounts to them as soon as you can.
Save yourself as much stress as possible by doing your tax return now, rather than leaving it to the very last minute. You can also save yourself a lot of stress with help from an accountant, who will make sure that your personal tax return is ready with plenty of time to spare before the deadline, and that you remain compliant throughout the whole process and avoid making any mistakes in filing your tax return. This will save you time and money, as your accountant will also know the best ways to reduce tax, and reduce stress all around. The deadline is right around the corner, so make sure you take care of your personal tax return as soon as possible to avoid incurring any fines. With MCC Accountants we can help local self-employed or small businesses to file their personal tax returns – don’t leave it until the last minute!
